Admissions policy
JCoSS will open one year at a time, so that by 2017 it has 1310 places, with 180 students in each year and a further 50 in the Pears Special Resource Provision. It is possible that, once the school is opened the Governors will decide to open the sixth form earlier.
JCoSS is extremely popular. In the event that JCoSS is oversubscribed in any one year the JCoSS Trust, in consultation with Barnet LEA, has established an admissions policy, which gives priority to applicants as follows (in order of priority):
- Jewish children: ‘Jewish Children’ are children who demonstrate, or of whom at least one parent demonstrates, commitment to the Jewish faith or involvement in recognised Jewish faith activities.
- All other faith children
- Other children
In the case of JCoSS being over-subscribed, priority within each catergory is given according to a range of criteria. For the full admissions criteria click here or email admissions@jcoss.barnet.sch.uk
(Children with special needs are covered by separate criteria.)
As with all schools, once JCoSS opens, the admission policy will be reviewed by the Governors annually to ensure that it is working fairly in practice.
